Why concrete is so special as a house number

Concrete is the only material among our house numbers that doesn't shine, reflect, or have a metallic look. That's precisely what makes it special. The natural gray tone and vibrant surface texture of concrete give a house number character and individuality. No two concrete house numbers look exactly alike. For homeowners who want to stand out from standard materials, concrete is the boldest and yet most harmonious choice.

Concrete as a facade material and as a house number

In recent years, exposed concrete has become one of the most popular facade materials in modern residential construction. Architects and builders appreciate the sober, honest aesthetic of the material: it hides nothing, it covers nothing up. A concrete house number consistently extends this design philosophy down to the smallest detail. On a concrete wall or a dark gray plaster facade, the concrete house number harmoniously blends in without dominating. On clinker facades or wooden cladding, it creates a deliberate material contrast that visually enriches the entrance area.

The Enrico model: Design and execution

Our Enrico series concrete house numbers are available in 20 cm and 30 cm heights. The digits have a uniform, three-dimensional shape with a slightly rough surface texture that mimics real concrete. The color is a natural concrete gray that is neither too light nor too dark and stands out well on a variety of facade colors. Fastening is done by screwing with the included mounting kit. Spacers slightly raise the digit from the wall, creating a shadow that enhances the three-dimensional effect.

On which facades does concrete have the strongest effect?

Concrete house numbers are most convincing on modern, simple facades. Dark gray plaster facades, anthracite-colored clinker, and exposed concrete walls provide the ideal background because the gray of the concrete harmonizes with the subsurface while creating a clear digit through texture and shape. On light facades in white or light beige, a calm, natural contrast is created. On reddish-brown clinker, concrete acts as a deliberate material change that adds depth to the entrance area. On very dark facades, we recommend checking whether the contrast is sufficient, as concrete gray and very dark subsurfaces may contrast less strongly than white or stainless steel depending on the lighting conditions.

Frequently asked questions about concrete house numbers

Is the concrete house number made of real concrete?

Yes. Our Enrico series house numbers are cast from real concrete. The material is not painted and not imitated. The natural gray coloring, the slight surface texture, and the weight of the material are created by the casting process. Each digit thus has a slightly individual surface that corresponds to the handcrafted character of concrete products.

Is concrete as an outdoor material weather-resistant?

Yes. Concrete is one of the most durable building materials ever and has been used outdoors for centuries. Our concrete house numbers are designed for permanent outdoor use and withstand rain, frost, sunlight, and temperature fluctuations without loss of quality. No special protective treatment or sealing is required. In case of heavy soiling, wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient.

How heavy is a concrete house number?

Concrete house numbers are noticeably heavier than aluminum house numbers. The 20 cm model weighs between 400 and 600 grams depending on the digit, the 30 cm model accordingly more. This weight must be taken into account when drilling and fastening. Use sufficiently deep anchors and screws that can permanently support the weight. The included mounting kit is designed for the weight of the digits.

Can I combine letters with concrete digits?

Yes. The Enrico series is also available with letters, so you can fully implement house numbers with letter suffixes, such as 12a or 7b, in concrete. The digit and letter have the same height and the same surface texture, so the overall impression is uniform.

How does concrete differ from other house number materials?

The essential difference is the feel and appearance: concrete does not reflect light, has no metallic surface, and thus appears calmer and more natural than aluminum, stainless steel, or chrome. Those who deliberately want to set a non-metallic accent on the facade will make the right choice with concrete. Unlike powder-coated aluminum house numbers, the concrete surface cannot be ordered in other colors. The natural concrete gray is the only and at the same time most distinctive option.

Concrete house numbers are a decision for independence and natural materiality. They suit houses where the material is deliberately visible and part of the design concept. Discover the Enrico series in 20 and 30 cm and find the concrete house number that suits your facade.
